Three cars, three celestial Identities

### Three cars, three celestial Identities

At the heart of the collection are three individually commissioned vehicles: The Sun, The Earth and The Moon. Each takes a different approach to translating astronomy into automotive design, with Mulliner tailoring the exterior paint, cabin materials, veneers and decorative details to suit its celestial inspiration.

### The Sun: warmth in Manuka Orange

The most expressive member of the trio is The Sun, based on the Bentley Continental GTC S convertible. Its Manuka Orange exterior establishes a warm, energetic identity, carried into the cabin through orange leather detailing, orange stitching and matching carpet binding.

Gravity Grey provides contrast, while Copper Stone veneer brings a distinctive, natural finish to the dashboard and door trim. The combination draws on the Sun’s position at the centre of Copernicus’s planetary model, giving the convertible a character that is both vibrant and carefully considered.

### The Earth: a world of blue

The Earth takes the form of a Continental GT S coupé, finished in bespoke Nebula Blue. The exterior colour is complemented by an interior built around Aegean Blue and Imperial Blue leather, creating a layered palette that continues across the dashboard, seat bolsters and headrests.

Galaxy Stone veneer adds another material dimension, while silver contrast piping and chrome detailing introduce highlights against the darker blue surfaces. A satin Imperial Blue centre console completes the theme.

Where The Sun makes its statement through warmth and contrast, The Earth adopts a cooler, more restrained approach.

### The Moon: silver, shadow and light

The third car, The Moon, is also a Continental GT S coupé. Its bespoke Moonstruck Silver exterior reflects the collection’s lunar inspiration, while the cabin combines dark Beluga leather with lighter Ice leather.

The contrast extends across the seats, headrests, dashboard and door inlays, creating an interior that plays with the relationship between light and shadow. Rather than using bright colours to distinguish itself, The Moon relies on tonal variation and material selection to establish its identity.

### The Copernicus Diagram: the detail that connects them

Although each car follows its own design direction, the unifying element is the Copernicus Diagram, a bespoke motif representing the eight planets of the Solar System: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The orbital design appears across several areas of the vehicles, including the centre console, front and rear quilted interior panels, and welcome lamps. On the convertible, the design also features on the tonneau cover.

These details give the collection a deeper connection to its namesake. The inspiration is not confined to the cars’ names or their paintwork; it becomes part of the experience of entering, occupying and owning each vehicle.

The bespoke approach also extends beyond the cars themselves. Each vehicle receives specially designed treadplates, a dedicated fragrance, a distinctive key box and Mulliner overmats. Copernicus-inspired scarves and pocket squares add another layer to the collection, while a dedicated Spotify playlist completes the accompanying experience.

### Performance remains part of the equation

The Nicolaus Copernicus Collection is a design-led commission, but the underlying cars retain the sporting character of Bentley’s Continental S models.

All three use Bentley’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined system output of 671 bhp. Each also features a titanium sports exhaust, an active chassis, 22-inch Ten Swept Spoke wheels finished in gloss black and carbon-ceramic brakes.

That specification gives the collection a shared mechanical foundation beneath its individual finishes. The distinction comes through the execution: three cars with the same broad performance brief, but separate visual identities shaped around the astronomical theme.

### Mulliner and the value of personalisation

The project also illustrates the role Mulliner plays within Bentley’s wider luxury offering. Rather than treating personalisation as a choice between a few additional paint colours and trim packages, the programme allows a broader concept to guide the development of an individual vehicle.

Created in collaboration with Bentley Warsaw, this commission connects a British marque with an important figure in Polish scientific history. It also demonstrates how a retailer can work with the factory’s bespoke division to develop a collection specifically for its market.

Richard Leopold, Bentley Motors’ Regional Director for EMEA, highlighted the collaboration between Mulliner and the company’s European retailer network, alongside the scope for individualisation and British craftsmanship.

The collection comprises just three vehicles, with each representing one of the three celestial themes. Pricing and specific customer allocations have not been publicly detailed in the available announcement.

### A luxury collection with a story to tell

The Nicolaus Copernicus Collection stands out because its inspiration reaches beyond conventional automotive exclusivity. The appeal is not simply that three individually configured Bentleys have been created, but that each has been developed around a coherent idea with cultural and scientific significance.

The Sun, The Earth and The Moon offer three interpretations of that idea through colour, materials and craftsmanship. Their shared planetary motif connects them, while the differences between their cabins and exteriors give each car its own character.

For Bentley, the commission is another demonstration of what becomes possible when bespoke design begins with a story rather than a specification sheet. For collectors, it offers a distinctive intersection of grand touring, personalisation and Polish heritage.

The universe may be vast, but in this case, Mulliner has brought a small part of it into three very particular Bentleys.
