MINI Cooper SE in British Racing Green: A Motorsport Legacy Reimagined for the Electric Age

A familiar shade of green meets a new generation of MINI performance, bringing the marque’s motorsport heritage into an increasingly electric future.

Few colours carry the same historical weight in motorsport as British Racing Green. Once synonymous with British racing machinery and competition, the deep green finish has become an enduring symbol of sporting heritage. Now, MINI is bringing that identity into its electric era with the MINI Cooper SE, finished in British Racing Green and equipped with the John Cooper Works Trim.

The result is a contemporary interpretation of one of the brand’s most recognisable design identities, combining familiar MINI proportions with an entirely electric powertrain.

The British Racing Green exterior highlights the Cooper SE’s compact three-door silhouette, contrasting with its clean body surfaces and distinctive stance. The John Cooper Works Trim adds a sportier visual character, drawing a connection between the electric model and the performance heritage established through John Cooper’s influence on the original Mini.

Electric performance with MINI character

Underneath its familiar exterior, the MINI Cooper SE delivers up to 160 kW (218 hp), with electric power available immediately through its drivetrain.

Its high-voltage battery is positioned low within the vehicle floor, helping lower the centre of gravity and contributing to balanced weight distribution. This arrangement supports the direct handling and responsive driving characteristics that have long formed part of MINI’s appeal.

MINI quotes a WLTP electric driving range of up to 400 kilometres, giving the Cooper SE the flexibility to handle everyday urban journeys while remaining capable of longer trips beyond the city.

Energy consumption is rated at 14.7–14.6 kWh per 100 kilometres under the WLTP combined cycle, with zero tailpipe CO₂ emissions.

A familiar interior, reinterpreted

Inside, MINI continues its approach of reducing conventional dashboard complexity while incorporating contemporary digital technology.

The cabin is centred around a circular display, which serves as the focal point for vehicle information, entertainment and connected functions. The simplified layout combines digital convenience with the distinctive interior identity that has become a defining feature of the modern MINI.

Rather than abandoning its established design language in pursuit of electrification, the brand has retained recognisable elements while adapting their functionality to a new generation of vehicles.

British Racing Green: More than a colour

British Racing Green is particularly appropriate for a brand whose sporting history has always been closely associated with compact dimensions, agility and competition.

The original Mini Cooper established its reputation through motorsport, most notably with its victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. Those achievements helped transform a small British car into an international performance icon.

The modern MINI Cooper SE represents a different chapter in that story. Its electric powertrain replaces the traditional combustion engine, but the emphasis on compact proportions, responsive handling and distinctive character remains.

The British Racing Green finish provides a visual connection between those generations, demonstrating how a historic design identity can evolve without losing its recognisable character.

For MINI, electrification is not simply about replacing an engine. It is about carrying an established automotive personality into a different technological era.

The Cooper SE in British Racing Green makes that transition particularly visible: a familiar British motorsport colour, a contemporary electric drivetrain and a design that continues to draw from the marque’s history.
