The Rant: The Front Runner’s Melting Pot

If you’re like me, over the past few weeks, you’ve been at a loss seeing Scuderia Ferrari’s #44 and #16 out and about. Although the look was different, we all had questions or maybe just one: what exactly is going on in the “Twilight Zone”?

Let’s break it down. Following last year’s tough run for the seven-time champion, he’s found an early podium this year. But has that brought back the man we watched for the last seven years? In doing so, did he inevitably change the entire paddock? After all, Formula 1 is at a place where dreams can become reality again.

The Limited Edition Mercedes

Even though Mercedes seems to be fine, one can’t help but pay attention to #63 and the tiny shifts in his overall demeanor. For weeks, we thought it was because of the inexperienced #12 running the pack, but what if it’s about the potential of SF #44 returning to Mercedes? Their greatest asset at the moment is no doubt #63, but what if there’s no space at Mercedes for the seven-time world champion either?

The Black SP3

Where you see #16 as a prince, I see him as a dark horse, one who has just about outgrown the fields he’s been roaming. Leclerc is the most likely to be accepted by Toto Wolff; it sets up the best driver chemistry in the entire paddock. They are the only two drivers who, by age alone, have found themselves in a truly fantastic era of Formula 1. It’s a time where the old age out and the young try to run rampant. Between experience and naivety lie #63 and #16. Ferrari might say he’s turning his back on the “family,” while Charles might respond that he simply wants to crush #44.

Scuderia Ferrari

All in all, things aren’t just looking “good” for Scuderia Ferrari; they are looking fantastic. The prospect of the seven-time champion and #3 in “Rocinante Red” is a dream scenario.
