iPad Pro M4: Apple’s Latest Professional Tablet

Apple has introduced the new iPad Pro, featuring the M4 chip and an advanced Ultra Retina XDR display. This iteration focuses on delivering enhanced performance and a superior visual experience for professionals and creative users.

Design and Display: The iPad Pro with the M4 chip sets a new benchmark for Apple’s tablet design, notably as the thinnest Apple product ever created. The 11-inch model measures 5.3 mm thin, while the 13-inch model is 5.1 mm thin, both presenting a lightweight profile.

Central to the new iPad Pro is the Ultra Retina XDR display. This display utilizes a breakthrough tandem OLED technology, where two OLED panels are combined to deliver exceptional full-screen brightness. It achieves 1000 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content, with a peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits. This tandem architecture also contributes to a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, precise control over display color and luminance, and a 10x improvement in off-axis color accuracy compared to its predecessor. A new nano-texture display glass option is also available on 1TB and 2TB models, designed to reduce glare for professional workflows.

Performance with the M4 Chip: The new iPad Pro is powered by the M4 chip, built on second-generation 3-nanometer technology. The M4 features a new display engine, designed to enable the precision, brightness, and color accuracy of the Ultra Retina XDR display. Its new CPU includes up to four performance cores and six efficiency cores, providing up to 1.5x faster CPU performance than the M2 chip in the previous-generation iPad Pro. The 10-core GPU, based on Apple’s next-generation architecture, introduces Dynamic Caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and ray tracing to iPad for the first time.

The M4 also integrates Apple’s most powerful Neural Engine to date, capable of performing up to 38 trillion operations per second. This enables advanced AI capabilities, such as accelerating tasks like automatically isolating a subject from its background in 4K video using the new Object Removal tool in Final Cut Pro.

Cameras and Audio: The camera system on the iPad Pro M4 is designed for professional workflows. It features a 12MP Wide camera capable of recording 4K ProRes video. An adaptive True Tone flash improves document scanning by removing shadows. The LiDAR Scanner further enhances AR experiences. The front-facing 12MP Ultra Wide camera is positioned on the landscape edge, optimizing the experience for video conferencing. The iPad Pro supports four studio-quality microphones.

Accessories: Accompanying the new iPad Pro are the new Apple Pencil Pro and the redesigned Magic Keyboard. The Apple Pencil Pro introduces new interactions, including a squeeze gesture that brings up a new palette, barrel roll for precise tool control, and haptic feedback. It also features Find My support. The Magic Keyboard is thinner and lighter, with a row of function keys and a larger, haptic trackpad.

Connectivity: The iPad Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E for fast wireless connections and 5G cellular for robust connectivity on the go.

The iPad Pro with the M4 chip is positioned as a powerful mobile computing device, integrating advanced display technology, high-performance processing, and specialized accessories to cater to demanding professional applications.
