It completely resets the locker room dynamic while keeping the heavy hitters Rebecca, Keeley, Roy Kent, and Coach Beard right where they belong.

The smug confidence on Rupert’s face right before Ted unloads that story—and then casually sinks a double 20 with his left hand—is the ultimate triumph of quiet decency over arrogant posturing.
There’s an added layer of weight to that scene now, too. Anthony Head played the arrogant, villainous ex-husband with such exquisite, sharp British perfection, making Rupert the ultimate guy you loved to hate. It speaks volumes about his talent that someone known in real life for being so exceptionally warm and gracious could play such a magnificent prick on screen.
As for what’s next in Season 4, dropping Ted back into the UK to coach the Richmond Women’s squad is an incredible pivot. It resets the locker room dynamic entirely while leaving room for the core characters to navigate where they fit.
Will Jamie, Sam, and the men’s team pop up in the pub for a pint, or offer sideline commentary while dealing with their own top-flight drama? Who knows. But if this new chapter holds onto that same heart—and those small, quiet lessons about life, football, and “hot brown water”—we’re in for something pretty special.
