For decades, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been the benchmark for the “Baby S-Class” experience. But with the global debut of the 2026 all-electric C-Class (likely badged as the C 400 4MATIC in its launch form), the German marque isn’t just swapping an engine for a battery, it’s rewriting the rules of the mid-size executive sedan.

Performance: The “Sportiest C-Class Ever”
Mercedes isn’t shy about the performance credentials of this new EV. Built on the dedicated MB.EA-M platform, the launch model C 400 4MATIC features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that produces a staggering 482 hp (360 kW) and 800 Nm of torque.
- 0–100 km/h: 4.0 seconds flat.
- Top Speed: 210 km/h.
- Efficiency: A two-speed transmission on the rear motor ensures high-speed efficiency while maintaining low-speed “zip.”

Range and 800V Architecture
Range anxiety is becoming a relic of the past. The electric C-Class is equipped with a 94.4 kWh usable battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 473 miles (762 km). For those prioritizing distance, a rear-wheel-drive variant planned for later this year is expected to crack the 500-mile mark.

The real game-changer is the 800-volt architecture. This allows for DC fast charging at up to 330 kW.
The 10-Minute Rule: You can add 201 miles (325 km) of range in just 10 minutes roughly the time it takes to grab a coffee.
Digital Luxury: The Hyperscreen Era
Inside, the “Baby S-Class” moniker feels more appropriate than ever. The cabin is dominated by the optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, powered by the new MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System).
- AI Virtual Assistant: Features a generative AI assistant that acts more like an “informed friend” than a voice command system.
- The “Sky Control” Roof: The panoramic glass roof features 162 illuminated stars that change color to match the ambient lighting.
- Immersive Audio: A Burmester 4D Surround Sound system includes transducers in the seats, turning the cabin into a “mobile discotheque” or a silent sanctuary.
Sustainability and Practicality
Reflecting modern luxury shifts, the interior is available with certified vegan finishes (The Vegan Society approved). Despite the sleek “one-box” silhouette, it remains highly practical with a 470L boot and a surprisingly generous 101L “frunk” (front trunk) for charging cables or carry-on luggage.
