The Power Unit: This is a “dance” between Mechanics and the Battery. In other words, it’s a system designed to allocate power. The allocation of that “set” power to where and when is known as “The Dance” ( A ratio)
Allocation: Currently, the FIA regulation “defaults” each machine to a 53/47 “split” at the following gears 1 – 3, meaning 47% of the batteries’ overall power & 53% of the engine’s total power is used to operate within regulations, at that given point.
The golden ratio: The 50/50 split is meant to work cohesively throughout the race; however, depending on the dance/ratio the results can drastically change the resulting output of the engine.
For example: Red Bull and Ferrari’s 4-5 Gears, it highly likely that the dance between these gears are focused more towards the batteries, which ironically enough under powers the amount of “power” distributed to the wheels, resulting in complaint’s we’ve heard about deployment of the 50/50 split.
Therefore, if the dance isn’t solved for each “individual” setup, F1 will become the AI-generated images we’re so fond of today, “tractors”. if each machines is built within a maximum weight “set”, it stands to reason that every other gram below the maximum weight is to be considered, like the individual each ratio will be different, the true battle lies in the pits, and in a few weeks we’ll see who will be the new winners, with Verstappen, Gastly and calopinto looking to make a statement, the upheaval unfolds.
